De La Salle – It was Acceptable in the 80′s

Basing our designs on an event idea from the dance teachers at De La Salle School we travelled (graphically) back in time to the 80’s. All the publicity was 80’s themed from the Frankie inspired De La Salle Says Relax T’shirts to the Duran Duran, All She Wants is inspired posters and jotter styled programmes, all they lacked was the wallpaper covers!
We initially tasked the students with finding out from their families, teachers and friends what the 80’s where about and what events, musical or political affected them. We all doodled these ideas and used them as graffiti throughout. Further classes also included a still life study of the Rubics Cube.
Making an appearance in the programme where the Ghostbusters, the DeLorean DMC-12, Pac Man, Space invaders and the Rubics Cube we even had the headmaster appearing as Max Headroon.
The programme featured work from a select group of art students, along with some of our very own 80’s inspired doodles.
De La Salle were really pleased to work with Gary and Paul at Cultivate Creative and feel that this event has really benefited from their understanding of design.
