We started Cultivate because we wanted to give people better design. Design that delighted them. That was a pleasure to interact with. It wasn’t just for the love of our work, because the best design makes customers and audiences pay attention. So, we create end products that move people to do new things, try new services, and explore what your organisation has to offer.
It sounds simple, and in a lot of ways it is. Get the execution right, and you find yourself with a winning campaign. A better brochure, or a website that visitors love to click on. When it comes down to it, we can give you improvements in every area that you touch your audience’s lives. Or, that you’d like to.
“It looks incredible. It’s not quite perfect yet.”
Gary’s won a few design awards over the years. (He likes to fib that they were for things like disco dancing and wrestling bears. Don’t believe him.)
Gary’s our senior creative, with bags of experience. When he’s not being a fount of ingenious ideas, he’s responsible for bringing them to life, from start to finish. That means meeting clients, directing projects, and ensuring Cultivate delivers every time.
As the oldest person at Cultivate, Gary occupies a position similar to Yoda. (That’s the management term.) He’s also responsible for health and safety in the studio. He swears blind he won’t buy any tigers.
“They want something ordinary? Give them brilliant and keep quiet about it.”
Paul’s got an eye for detail, which is one reason he manages the production of all artwork. (And gets roped in to checking spreadsheets.) Another reason is his expertise in design and marketing, which is hefty by anyone’s standards.
Paul’s that rarest of things: a creative with a business head. It makes him a capable guy for understanding our clients’ needs. As he’s terribly clever, Paul is responsible for our web builds, which are all coded in html/php and use cascading style sheets. (He refuses to tell us what that means – all we know is, they’re well built and easy to use).
Occasionally, he puts on a spandex suit and fights crime.
“It’s perfect. Let’s polish it one more time.”
When we saw Andy’s highly original work for the first time, we knew he was ideal for Cultivate. It was harder to lure him in – for the most part, it involved laying a trail of jammy dodgers into the office, and trapping him under a cardboard box.
It’s too late for Andy now, as he’s breathed the air and can’t go back, but it means you get profoundly clever design.
We once asked Andy where he gets his ideas from, but all he’d say is that he’s got a sack of them under his bed.
